College Park man arrested in Union City double shooting

UNION CITY, GA (CBS46) -

Police in Alabama have arrested a man in a shooting that left one person dead and another injured Wednesday night.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of a Chevron gas station located in the 5800 block of Buffington Road near Royal South Parkway.

According to police, the department received a 911 call about the shooting just after 10:15 p.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Evan Campbell, 39, of College Park, deceased in the parking lot and a woman shot multiple times. The woman was taken to a local area hospital.

During the investigation, it was determined the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute and arrest warrants were obtained for Marcus Lamont Payne, 39, of College Park.

On Friday, investigators of the Union City Police Department received information that Payne was located at a family member's residence in Hoover, AL.

Payne was taken into custody without incident by the Hoover Police Department at approximately 12:15 p.m. He was charged with murder, aggravated assault, and other offenses.
