JCPD arrest woman who attempted to pass forged check at Eastman Credit Union

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

Johnson City Police Department officers have arrested a woman who reportedly tried to pass a forged check at a local bank.

According to JCPD investigators, Anya M. Combs attempted to pass a forged check for $350 at the Eastman Credit Union, 384 Roy Martin Road in Gray, on March 26 around 4:30 p.m.

A clerk reportedly became suspicious and stopped the transaction.

Investigators said they have learned the information and driver’s license Combs used was stolen in an auto burglary, which was never reported.

Combs was charged with forgery, identity theft, attempted theft of property under $500 and possession of stolen property under $500.

She was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where she was being held on $13,000 bond. Combs was scheduled for arraignment Monday at 1:30 p.m.
