FULTON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Hosea Feed the Hungry used volunteers to prepare food at the Dekalb County Jail on Saturday for 10,000 people for Easter.

"I just want to give back to the community, and I love the fact we can do whatever we can," said Nikki Dedani, a volunteer.

Organizers said Hosea Feed the Hungry has held the event for 43 years.

"I've been volunteering for Hosea Feed the Hungry only since last year, and I really enjoy it, so this is my first time coming into the kitchen. I always go to the banquet hall," said Dedani.

The Dekalb County Sheriff's Department has allowed Hosea Feed the Hungry to prepare meals in its kitchen since 1990.

Volunteers came from all over Atlanta to help prepare meals.

"It gives them a place to come and help local people here in Atlanta," said executive chef Nick Johnson.

Volunteers will feed people in a warehouse parking lot at Hosea Feed the Hungry located at 1035 Donnelly Ave. SW in Atlanta from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
