Woman charged in fatal accident on I-285

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

A woman is facing charges after police say she struck and killed a pedestrian Sunday morning on I-285 southbound near Langford Parkway.

Atlanta police said they responded to a call at about 4:45 regarding a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. When police arrived, a deceased man was located.

Preliminary information indicated that a car was traveling south on I-285 when it entered the right emergency lane and struck the pedestrian, according to police.

The driver of the car, Tabatha Williams, 24, was arrested and charged with DUI, homicide by vehicle in the first degree and reckless driving.

A passenger in Williams' car was treated for minor injuries.

Police have not released the victim's name or said why the pedestrian was on the interstate.
