Authorities say a major thoroughfare on Atlanta's east side will likely be open on Monday, though one lane could be closed for repairs to a broken water main during the early part of the week.
The break near DeKalb Avenue and Elmira Place was first reported shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday, leading to the closure of DeKalb Avenue. Repairs were made and the road reopened Thursday night, but water began leaking again and the street was once again shut down early Friday.
Rain has complicated the repair project.
Atlanta Watershed Management spokeswoman Scheree Rawles says that crews will have to replace wet fill-in material with dry material.
