OAK HARBOR, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The all clear has been given after a bomb threat prompted police, sheriff deputies and fire crews to search Oak Harbor Middle School and High School on Monday, April 21.

Officials say two separate bomb threats, one to each building, were called in just as school was about to dismiss. Students were released about 10 minutes early, and are all safe.

Searches of both the high and middle schools turned up nothing dangerous. About a dozen firefighters spent two hours searching the buildings.

School officials say high school students were taken directly onto busses when the threat came in. The district says buses for Junior High students were not at the school yet, so middle school students were taken to a nearby athletic field until they arrived.

Officials say they cannot be too careful in this situation.

"Nowadays you can't assume anything. When the call comes in you've still got to go through the procedures, calling out fire, EMS, disrupting school staff, having them assist us in anything that looks out of the ordinary. So, it disrupted everybody today," said Oak Harbor Police Chief Steven Weirich.

Weirich says school will resume as normal Tuesday, but that there will be a police presence at both buildings overnight.

Students may see police again on Tuesday just to keep an eye on the campus.

"It was a beautiful day here and we canceled all of our games and our practices and our weight lifting and everything. Safety is priority one. That's my main job. It's something you have to take seriously. It's a shame that it disrupted our kids and I think it sent chills through both kids and adults," said Guy Parmigian, Benton Carroll Salem Schools superintendent.

Oak Harbor Police are not sure if it was two people or just one that made the threatening phone calls. No specific details on the calls are being released yet.
