TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A Pima County man has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges involving horses and a dog after an investigation that started last year.

Sheriff's detectives served a search warrant to a home in the 15200 block of S. Lovell Road on July 21 in response to reports of possibly starving horses and found one dog and two horses that were severely emaciated, according to the department. Officials said Dennis Woblick 62, owned three dogs and three horses at the time.

The horses were taken to Healing Hearts Rescue and Refuge in the Wilcox area where they have since recovered. The dogs were sent to Pima Animal Care Center and were rehabilitated and adopted.

Woblick pled guilty to a charge of felony animal cruelty and will be sentenced on May 28.
