Investigators are trying to sort out an incident outside a northwest Atlanta recording studio early Thursday morning that left two men injured, one from gunshot wound.
Witnesses told police they were walking out of the studio at 800 Forrest St. when they noticed a white Crown Victoria rolling past with its headlights off and its windows tinted. As the car approached, some men jumped out of the car and started shooting, the witnesses told police.
"In an effort to get help, that's how the victims got scattered out," said Atlanta Police Department Overnight Commander Capt. Jack Snowden.
One victim flagged down an officer at Tallulah and Antone streets, Snowden said, and the other victim ended up at Holmes Street and Northside Drive.
Rashad Kele had a gunshot wound, and Ryan Smith was pistol-whipped in the face, Snowden said.
Both men are expected to survive their wounds, Snowden said.
Investigators have recovered a gun that one of the victims said he grabbed during a struggle with one of the gunmen.
"He's saying he took the gun from the perpetrator, but in this investigation, things have been changing so rapidly," Snowden said. "We're not sure just what to believe yet, so we're still investigating to find out."
