UNION CITY, GA (CBS46) -

A suspected shooter accused of killing a store clerk in Union City was arrested in Alabama Tuesday.

Police officers in Lanett, AL, caught D'Vontavious Bernard Williams, 20, hiding in a tree on a playground in an apartment complex.

Union City police said Sohil Padania, 28, was killed by Williams while he worked as a clerk at Yasmin's on 29, a convenience store.

"He (was) a good guy," said a customer.

Police said Williams robbed the store and then killed Padania.

A woman who worked at the store said Padania gave the gunman all of his money.

"I thought this was a safe side of town," said the customer.

Williams is in the Chambers County, AL, jail awaiting extradition.
