ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Zocalo Mexican Restaurant in midtown Atlanta is celebrating Cinco de Mayo by offering guests a variety of authentic guacamole appetizers that typically are only seen south of the border.

On May 1, chef de cuisine Steven Shanks and his colleagues launched the restaurant's inaugural Guacamole Festival, featuring a variety of special guacamole.

The "Baja" is made with kiwi, jicama, strawberry, mango and mint. The "Pacifico" includes grilled beets, roasted walnuts, queso fresco and diced orange. Perhaps the most unusual guacamole recipe is the "Sur," which is topped with fried grasshoppers.

The Guacamole Festival runs through May 18.

Shanks was featured on Better Mornings Atlanta Monday, giving viewers tips on how to recreate Zocalo's popular "Baja" recipe at home.
