FULTON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

A Fulton County deputy was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital hospital following a wreck on Boat Rock Road SW Tuesday morning.

He was responding to a fight call at an apartment complex on Westchase Lane SW when his cruiser left the roadway, according to Fulton County Sheriff's Office.

FCSO says the deputy sergeant is going to be fine and is now recuperating at home.

At 12:35 a.m. Tuesday, the on-duty deputy radioed the Fulton County 911 dispatch center that he was just involved in a vehicle accident. He told dispatchers that he was on Boat Rock Road SW near Binford Road.

Responding officers located the deputy inside his overturned cruiser at 1380 Boat Rock Road SW. Fulton County fire crews extricated the deputy minutes later.

The deputy is alert and talking according to the sheriff's office. He is a veteran officer of at least 20 years. The wreck is under investigation.
