ROSWELL, GA (CBS46) -

Authorities have identified a body found off the banks of the Chattahoochee River on Sunday afternoon.

Roswell police responded to Vickery Creek Park near Roswell Road just after 1 p.m. Sunday regarding a body in the Chattahoochee River.

When officers arrived, they found the body of a black woman along the banks of the river. The body was taken to the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy and identification.

The woman has been identified as 20-year-old Markeesha Taylor of Decatur. The investigation is still on-going.

The case was previously turned over to the FBI because the park is federal property.

On Tuesday, the Roswell Police Department announced they are now once again handling the investigation. They believe Taylor was killed in another location and her body dropped off near the river.

The cause of her death is unknown.

RPD is asking Taylor's friends and acquaintances for help in the investigation.

If you have any information about this case, please call Detective Jeff Sanders at (770) 640-4464.
