4 injured in Lake Lanier boating accident

Four people were injured in a boating accident Sunday night on Lake Lanier.

"Nobody was thrown overboard to my knowledge," said Chief Kevin Wallace with the Forsyth Fire Department.

Around 9:35 p.m., park rangers received an emergency call in reference to a boating incident on Lake Lanier in the Vann's Tavern area.

Upon arrival, rangers found four people with multiple injuries as well as one boat operator later determined to be operating under the influence of alcohol.

Below is the breakdown of individuals on board each boat:

Vessel #1 - 29-foot Bayliner Cabin Cruiser

  • Robert Romeo, 41, of Cumming – injuries: cuts to both legs, one of which was a deep laceration
  • Patricia Romeo, 41, of Cumming – injuries: cuts and bruising
  • Sierra Romeo, 17, of Cumming – injuries: broken leg
  • Robert N. Romeo, 21, of Cumming – injuries: cuts and bruising

Vessel #2 - 24-foot Ebb Tide

  • Joseph Korosee, 40, of Alpharetta
  • Christina Jennings, 39, of Atlanta – charged with boating under the influence

"Just know your vessel. Know how it operates. Keep a sharp eye out for other boaters," said Chief Wallace.

The investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the crash. Other charges are possible based on the outcome of the investigation.
