Scott Sawant, owner, and Eric Mulville, executive chef
COBB COUNTY (CBS46) -
A new restaurant in East Cobb County is gaining popularity because of its diet-conscious offerings, particularly its gluten-free menu items.
Zeal Modern Eatery on Johnson Ferry Road opened in December. One of the owners, Scott Sawant, is one of metro-Atlanta's youngest restaurateurs at age 22. Sawant, a 2009 graduate of Wheeler High School and a marketing student at Kennesaw State University, said he spends long days at the restaurant, which he co-owns with his uncle.
"I see the team coming together - service, food - to its highest level, so we're having a lot of fun," said Sawant.
Executive chef Eric Mulville, a well-known Atlanta chef, runs Zeal's kitchen. Mulville, a former executive chef and managing partner of Maggiano's Buckhead, said customers are clamoring for gluten-free options.
"We have cheesecake that's gluten-free, and people, they almost cry," said Mulville. "We go the extra mile for guests."
Sawant and Mulville were featured Wednesday on Better Mornings Atlanta.
