MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

Most pregnancies start near a headboard not a keyboard. But one Valley couple is part of a growing trend of folks turning to the internet to start their family.

For three and a half years Melissa Stombaugh and her husband Robert have been trying to have a baby.

"We have a couple names for boys and a couple names for girls. We have rooms ready to go. All we need's the baby," said Melissa Stombaugh.

"It's been really hard, stressful. You just pray every night something's going to happen," said Robert Stombaugh

In an effort to jump start the process this past March the couple decided to make their personal life very public by sharing their fertility issues online in hopes of getting a little help.

Turns out they're not the only ones. Hundreds of couples across the country have started GoFundMe accounts to raise money for everything from in vitro fertilization treatments to adoption.

"We actually have done one round of in vitro fertilization that was unfortunately not successful," said Melissa Stombaugh.

That treatment alone cost more than $14,000.

The couple told CBS 5 they want to give it another go. Now they're trying to raise money so Melissa Stombaugh can undergo a second procedure.

"If we can raise $20,000 that would cover almost all the costs for round two and three," said Melissa Stombaugh.

If it ends up that the couple can't have children of their own they said they are open to adoption.
