Women found dead outside DeKalb County apartment

Posted: Updated:

Two women were found dead at an apartment complex in DeKalb County on Monday morning.

"I don't know what's going on. This is a lost generation I think," said Victoria Matthews, a neighbor.

Around 6 a.m., a resident at Walden Pond apartments saw the women's bodies in the parking lot of the complex on Shell Bark Road and called 911.

On Tuesday, police identified the victims as 20-year-old Shaniqua Camacho of Lawrenceville and 21-year-old Sonia Williams of Norcross.

Police have investigated a number of murders in DeKalb County in the last two weeks.

"We don't have anything at this time to suggest that it is connected, but at this point we're not ruling anything out," said DeKalb County Police Capt. Steven Fore.

One resident told police they heard shots fired overnight, but did not go outside to investigate.

DeKalb County police do not know how long the women may have been lying in the parking lot before being discovered.

No identification was found on the women and police said no one has reported anyone missing matching their descriptions.

Police said no witnesses have come forward and they do not have a motive for the crime.

"It's a quiet neighborhood. Nothing like this has ever gone on out here," said resident Antonio Bass.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
