ANTHEM, AZ (CBS5) -

A student who allegedly tweeted he was "going to bring an AR-15 to school and kill everyone" at an Arizona high school as his senior prank was arrested on suspicion of committing a hoax.

Nicholas Goettl, 18, was taken into custody on Monday at his father's home in Anthem.

The wife of a Maricopa County Sheriff's Office posse member was tipped off about the social media postings around 11:30 p.m. Sunday and the posse member, in turn, contacted MCSO.

The investigation determined that the threat was posted by Goettl, a senior at Boulder Creek High School, sheriff's investigators said.

Other Twitter postings examined during the investigation included one of which contained a yearbook photo and underneath Goettl's photo read, "I bear witness that there is no god but God. I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah."

Sheriff's deputies said information posted on a Facebook page connected to Goettl spoke to seniors starting a "riot" on Monday. Some students reportedly got into trouble for vandalizing the school and were not permitted to walk for graduation, according to the sheriff's office.

When interviewed by sheriff's detectives, Goettl admitted to posting the threat.
