A 7-year-old Fairburn boy got the surprise of a lifetime.
Nigel Shoyoye is one of 25 young soccer fans across the country selected to attend the World Cup in Brazil this summer. This is part of the McDonald's Player Escorts Program.
Ronald McDonald surprised Nigel with the good news at Arlington Christian School Soccer Field on Thursday evening. His parents had known for three weeks their son was chosen to attend the World Cup and said it was tough keeping the secret.
Nigel's father, Marvin Shoyoye, said he looks forward to sharing the experience with his son, who he's accompanying on the trip.
"It's going to be an amazing experience. I think it'll be great for both us. He's been saying he wants to go somewhere exotic and here it is," said Marvin Shoyoye.
Once Nigel gets to the game, he'll walk hand-in-hand with a U.S. Men's National Soccer Team player onto the field before a match.
