LAWRENCEVILLE, GA (CBS46) -

A driver who was wanted for allegedly causing a fatal crash in DeKalb County is accused of causing a second deadly crash.

According to Lawrenceville Police Capt. Jeff Smith, Sabrina Townes, 32, apparently tried to pass traffic in the emergency lane of GA-316 Sunday afternoon, when her vehicle clipped another car, causing a chain-reaction, seven-car wreck.

Pamela Leake, 39, was killed in that accident, while the passenger in her car suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Authorities shut down the highway in both directions for five hours while investigators documented the scene and gathered evidence.

Smith said investigators were surprised to learn that Townes had eight outstanding warrants for her arrest out of DeKalb County for vehicular homicide.

"We were shocked when we first heard the information. It's certainly an interesting wrinkle in the event," said Smith. "However, it plays no part in this investigation."

According to warrants, Townes is accused of causing a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened Feb. 15, 2012 at the corner of Lawrenceville Highway and Lynburn in Tucker.

Lymeng Lim, 47, died. Townes left the scene. According to sources, she even had her 4-month-old and 5-year-old children in the car with her.

Townes is no stranger to trouble. She was booked into the DeKalb County jail on at least three occasions.

Jail records show In 2002, Townes was arrested after she failed to show up in court.

In 2003, Townes was charged with making terrorist threats, trespassing, damage to property, theft and simple battery.

In 2004, Townes was arrested again and charged with simple battery.

As of Monday night, Townes had not been charged in connection with the Gwinnett County accident. However, she was taken to the DeKalb County Jail on her existing warrants.
