Bat tests positive for rabies in Hall County, alert issued

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

A rabies alert is in effect in parts of Hall County.

Officials there say a bat was found inside a home in the area of Blue Ridge Drive in central Hall County.

The animal was sent to the Georgia Public Health Lab for testing for rabies and the results came back positive.

This is the tenth confirmed case of the year so far.

Alert signs will go up in the area where the bat was found.

If you should see an animal in the area acting abnormally, please call Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830. After hours, you may call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812.

Pet owners may also get their animals vaccinated for rabies at the Hall County Animal Shelter Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Vaccinations are just $10.
