GRIFFIN, GA (CBS46) -

There will be a candlelight vigil Friday night to honor the Griffin police officer who was shot and killed at a Waffle House a week ago.

The vigil for the officer, Kevin Jordan, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a Walmart located at 643 North Expressway in Griffin.

Jordan's son, Hezekiah Jordan, will graduate from high school on Saturday. Friends and family will meet up around 8 a.m. at the Home Depot at 1435 Hwy. 16 West, then travel across the street as a group to Memorial Stadium.

Officer Jordan was shot during an altercation with a woman, Chantell Mixon, outside a Waffle House on May 31. As Jordan attempted to handcuff Mixon, military veteran Michael Bowman shot him in the back several times at close range. One of the bullets penetrated Jordan's bullet-proof vest. Mixon and Bowman have been charged with murder.
