World Oceans Day comes to Atlanta

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Sunday, June 8 is celebrated around the globe as World Oceans Day.

This weekend, the Georgia Aquarium is recognizing the event with a series of fun speakers, art exhibits and crafts. The Aquarium hopes to expose visitors to the wonders of the ocean and how they affect us everyday.

Emmy-winning television host and biologist Jeff Corwin is the featured guest at the Aquarium this year. He will be holding two book signing sessions. Meanwhile, there will be arts and crafts for the kids, using recycled products and materials.

It is a way for the Aquarium to teach children about sustainability and how their actions impact the environment every day.

The fun starts Friday at 1 p.m. and winds down Sunday at 5 p.m. For more information on daily activities and tickets, check out the Georgia Aquarium's web site.
