Tucson, AZ (KOLD) - Sahuaro star baseball player Alex Verdugo was selected 62nd overall by the Los Angeles Dodgers not as a pitcher but as an outfielder.
Verdugo told Sports Director Damien Alameda that he was "extremely shocked" at being selected as a position player instead of a pitcher though Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reported that the Dodgers never specified what position he'll play.
According to True Blue LA the Dodgers bonus pool had a slot amount of $914,600 for its second round pick. Which means Verdugo just landed himself a good chunk of change.
