NWS: Tornado touched down in Troup County

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City said a tornado touched down in Troup County early Sunday morning.

The EF-1 tornado hit at about 2 a.m. west of LaGrange on Newton Road near West Point Lake. The twister was on the ground for just about four minutes, but downed 50 large trees.

One fallen tree crushed three cars. A greenhouse was also destroyed by the storm. There are also several reports of trees down on houses, causing shingle and siding damage.

NWS estimates this tornado had wind speeds of 95 mph.
