Effingham County man surrenders after standoff with deputies

EDEN, GA (WTOC) -

A convicted felon was arrested on Monday after shooting at Effingham County Sheriff's deputies on Sunday.

Deputies responded to a call at 182 Raccoon Drive in the Foxbow Farms neighborhood shortly before 6 p.m. on Sunday on a report of a domestic disturbance involving a man with a gun.

According to the ECSO, when deputies arrived on scene and tried to get the suspect out of the residence, the suspect walked outside and fire at least one shot at a deputy. The suspect then went back into the residence before deputies were able to return fire.

Eric Harrison, 41, surrendered himself to deputies after a brief standoff.

Harrison was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, reckless conduct and battery. He is currently being held in the Effingham County Jail.

The ECSO continues to investigate the incident.
