SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

A manhunt is over in Sumter County, where deputies were looking for a man wanted in a deadly shooting Wednesday morning.

Deputies say they have 18-year-old Charles Gary Singletary III in custody. Singletary's photo is attached to this story. He was wanted on charges of murder and aggravated assault.

Investigators searched the area of Old Stone and Pearson Road, in southern Sumter County near Clarendon County. He was captured at a home off Blackberry Lane.

"Our tracking dogs were tracking him at the time," says Sheriff Anthony Dennis. "He was assisted by someone in a vehicle, his sister actually was the one that assisted him. She then called law enforcement and told us that he was at the residence."

Sheriff Dennis tells WIS one person was shot dead and two others wounded at a home on Pearson Road at about 5:30 a.m. Two of the victims were shot in the head and one of them died.

Dennis says Joshua William Brown, 18, was killed. 18-year-old Timothy Kyle Hodge is in the hospital with critical injuries. And Hodge's 49-year-old mother, Margaret Charles, was treated and released from the hospital.

Sheriff Dennis says Singletary had been friends with the victims.

"They had been childhood friends and Mr. Singletary had stayed at the victims' house on multiple occasions," he says.

Dennis says Charles woke up to a confrontation at her home. She told investigators Singletary shot Hodge andWilliams and then assaulted her before leaving the house. By the time deputies arrived Williams was dead.

Dennis says Singletary had recently acted strange and was not welcome in Charles' home.

"She said that she did not know that he was at the residence that night and that he had been forbidden to return to the residence," he says.
