Charity bicycle ride set for Friday night

Posted: Updated:

The Park Tavern is the place to be on Friday night when the city of Atlanta transforms from a city full of cars to a city full of cyclists.

The second-annual Full Moon Ride starts and ends at Piedmont Park, and it's going in the books as an event to remember.

Last year's turnout was estimated at about 600 people. Organizers and sponsors say that number has doubled this year, and there is room for more.

Registration is $25 and the ride is open to everyone of all ages.

The city of Atlanta will block off streets from Piedmont through the Virginia Highlands, making it a safe and family fun time.

All the proceeds from this year's ride will benefit Bert's Big Adventure, a local charity that takes kids with terminal illness to Disney World for a five-day, all-expense-paid vacation.

To get involved with the ride, you can check out their Twitter feed, their web site or contact their bicycle sponsor.
