In what is being billed as one of the biggest home games in franchise history, the AtlantaSilverbacks host Major League Soccer (MLS) side Real Salt Lake in the fourth round of the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Saturday at 8 p.m. at Atlanta Silverbacks Park.
The two teams met in last year's Cup, with Real Salt Lake winning a 3-2 overtime thriller at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, UT. The Claret and Cobalt advanced all the way to the 2013 Cup final, where they fell to DC United, 1-0.
Saturday will mark the first time a MLS team will visit Atlanta Silverbacks Park. Since joining the North American Soccer League (NASL) in 2011, the Silverbacks have played against a pair of MLS teams in the Cup, falling to Seattle Sounders FC in 2012 and the aforementioned Real Salt Lake last year.
The winner of Saturday night's game will await the winner of the Colorado Rapids (MLS)-Orlando City SC (USL Pro) match up, which will be played on June 17 in Commerce City, CO. Should the Silverbacks pull the upset over Real Salt Lake, they will travel to the fifth round to either Colorado or Orlando.
Tickets for Saturday night's big game against Real Salt Lake are still available, and can be purchased by calling 404-969-4900 or visit http://www.atlantasilverbacksfc.com.
Kickoff is at 8 p.m., and Extra Time Bar and Grill, Atlanta Silverbacks Park's in-stadium restaurant, will show the England vs. Italy World Cup match, which starts at 6 p.m.
For those watching from afar, the game can be seen live online at NASLLive.com.
