Home invader stabbed to death by resident

Posted: Updated:

A home invasion on the southwest side of Atlanta resulted in the death of the intruder Saturday morning.

According to police, after the invader made it into the home, he struggled with a resident. Police say the resident stabbed the intruder to death.

This all happened around 2:30 a.m. in the Princeton Lakes neighborhood.

The resident suffered only minor injuries, according to police.

Atiana Wells lives down the street from the home and said break-ins were starting to become more common. Her own car was broken into a few weeks ago.

She was shocked to hear of the home invasion and more so about the end result.

Another neighbor, Robert Randolph, also shared in her apprehension that killing the intruder was necessary.

"I don't have a gun in my home, and I'm damn sure not going to use my kitchen utensils to stab someone up, but I will beat the brakes off someone, I'm not going to lie to you, if they come in my home," said Randolph.

For Randolph, it all comes down to the level of threat and what kind of weapon the intruder has. "We've got to protect our neighborhood a little bit better," said Randolph.

Wells would rather just leave the trouble behind. "It's time to leave," said Wells. "When we first got here, it wasn't like this."

Police did not charge the resident of the home with a crime, but say they are still investigating.
