Tech head coach Tyler Summitt announced two new additions to his staff as Eric
Burton and Ashley Thompson have both joined the Lady Techster basketball
Burton will serve as the director of basketball operations and video
coordinator while Thompson will service as the multimedia and creative services
associate for the program's social media accounts.
"I am thrilled to have both Eric and Ashley join our staff," Summitt said.
"They are both multi-talented, energetic individuals whose skill sets will only
enhance our ability to run a topnotch program, while serving our current
student-athletes and recruiting future student-athletes. They are a perfect fit
for the Lady Techster basketball family."
Burton comes to Ruston after earning his bachelor's degree in business
administration at Marquette University earlier this month. During his collegiate
days in Milwaukee, Burton served as the women's basketball head manager and
assistant video coordinator for the past three seasons.
"I am incredibly honored to be at Louisiana Tech," Burton said. "I feel
fortunate to be a part of Tyler Summitt's staff. I feel I am ready for the
responsibilities that come with this position. I am excited about doing my part
to help lead this program back to where it should be. "
His responsibilities at Marquette included overseeing game-day and road trip
operations, film break down, supervision of other managers and other day-to-day
activities associated with practice and workouts. Burton was the recipient of
the Ignatius Merit and Service Scholarship and the Business Administration
Scholars Fund Scholarship during his four years at Marquette.
In his new position, Burton will be in charge of video break down and exchange,
team travel and logistics, game scheduling and other day-to-day
responsibilities as assigned by the head coach.
Thompson joins the LA Tech staff after spending the past year with assistant
coach Bernitha Johnson at the University of Buffalo. She served as the
assistant to the head coach where she provided administrative and professional
support to the entire staff.
Her responsibilities at Buffalo included coordinating all planning, travel
logistics and scheduling for the head coach while also acting as the primary
point of contact and public liaison for the women's basketball program. She helped
launch marketing efforts to promote the program and increase attendance,
created recruiting materials for marketing the program to prospective student
athletes and ran the "Reach for the Stars" program.
"I am thrilled to be working with such a wonderful group of people who are as
excited as I am to be able to help rebuild the outstanding Louisiana Tech
tradition," Thompson said. "Tyler is an amazing leader with an incredible
vision. I am eager to help carry out that vision."
Some of her responsibilities in her new position will include overseeing the
social media accounts (Facebook, twitter, Instagram) for the program, creative
services, assisting with recruiting and marketing materials, and other
day-to-day duties as assigned by the head coach.
Burton and Thompson join Summitt's staff which already includes Mickie DeMoss,
Bernitha Johnson and Amber Smith.
