WASHINGTON, DC (POOL/CNN) – Condoleezza Rice's mark on U.S. diplomacy is now on permanent display in Washington, DC.

A portrait of the former Secretary of State was unveiled at the State Department on Wednesday.

It was painted by artist Steven Polson.

Rice served as the 66th Secretary of State under President George W. Bush.

She was the first African American woman to hold the position. Before that, she served as Bush's National Security Advisor during his first term.
