A man pulled from the Chattahoochee River Sunday evening has died.
Cobb County police have identified the victim as 25-year-old Omar Fraire of Smyrna.
According to investigators, a group of people were playing in the water near Atlanta Road in Smyrna. Fraire jumped in to try to save a 6-year-old in the river. Another person was able to get the child out of the water, but Fraire never made it out.
Fraire was taken to Emory Adventist Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
