ATLANTA (CBS46) -

An early morning blaze destroyed an Alpharetta home.

Police were called to the home on the 200 block of Clipper Bay Drive just before 6 a.m. The caller lost consciousness as she was talking to a 911 operator.

When police arrived, officers could hear screams coming from inside and started searching for victims.

Alpharetta firefighters arrived shortly after. Both firefighters and police officers broke windows and doors looking for the woman inside.

Rescue crews were able to pull the unconscious woman in her 50s from the home just as the roof started to collapse.

Officers started giving her CPR.

The woman was taken to North Fulton Hospital in serious condition and later taken to an advanced care facility.

The fire destroyed the large home.
