ATLANTA (CBS46) -

An animal control deputy in Forsyth County saved the life of a fawn on Monday.

The baby deer tumbled into a retention pond at the Olde Atlanta Golf Course and was not able to get out.

Deputy Chris Barger, along with employees from the golf club, dove into action and managed to pull the creature to safety.

The Forsyth County sheriff's office reminds residents to check fences and gates around retention ponds.
