ATLANTA (CBS46) -

An Atlanta police officer was dragged by a driver who was allegedly impaired Monday as she tried to flee police.

According to Kim Jones with Atlanta police, two officers saw a 2007 Hyundai Accent on the road next to train tracks at the 700 block of McDaniel Street.

Police say the officers saw a woman, Anna Dittmer, slumped over the steering while and possibly impaired.

According to authorities, Dittmer eventually woke up due to alarms that sounded to indicate an incoming train. At this point, police say Dittmer attempted to flee the scene when she saw police, injuring an officer who tried to stop her.

Officer Kevin Thigpen reached into the car and tried to arrest Dittmer, but she drove off, dragging him until she crashed into a pole, according to authorities.

Thigpen was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and treated for injuries.

Dittmer was charged with improper stopping in a roadway next to railroad tracks, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, DUI, serious injury by a motor vehicle, giving a false name to law enforcement, aggravated assault, felony obstruction and possession of methamphetamines.
