Fort Bragg paratrooper dies in motorcycle crash

SPRING LAKE, N.C. -

A Fort Bragg paratrooper died Saturday after crashing on a motorcycle near Spring Lake.

Sgt. Tyler Wayne Humphreys, 23, of Houston, Texas, crashed Saturday at the intersection of Elliot Bridge Road and Will Lucas Road. He died as a result of his injuries.

"Sgt. Tyler Humphreys was a dedicated paratrooper and leader who will be sorely missed by everyone in the battalion," said Lt. Col. Bradley L. Boyd, commander, 2nd Bn., 325th AIR. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his Family and friends during this difficult time."

Humphreys joined the Army in July 2009. He deployed to Haiti from January to March 2010 in support of Operation Unified Response, and again to Iraq from May to December 2011 in support of Operation New Dawn.

He was most recently an infantryman with 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division.
