3 confirmed cases of rabies in Rockdale County, others possible

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA (CBS46) -

The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about cases of rabies in the area.

According to RCSO, there have been three instances where animals confirmed to have rabies have bitten people in Rockdale County.

Raccoons bit two people on Saxony Drive on the south side of the county and a fox bit one person on St. George Place on the north side of the county.

All three animals in those cases tested positive for rabies.

The county also says there may be other possible cases of rabies. However, tests were not done because of the high costs and other factors.

You can visit the CDC website to learn more about rabies.

The RCSO reminds residents not to approach an animal if you believe it has rabies. Move away from the animal and call 911 right away.
