Fraud is everywhere—online, via snail mail, and phone calls. But it hits close to home when it is going on in your backyard. A group out of Norcross has been illegally taking your money. Those under fire are John Williams and the two companies he owns: Williams, Scott, and Associates, LLC. and Warrant Services Association. The Federal Trade Commission says this is what they were doing…
Using threats, deception, and bullying to reel in more than $3.5 million in fake payday loan debts that consumers never actually owed.
A U.S. district court has since halted that operation.
The group was falsely claiming to be affiliated with federal and state agents, other law enforcement, and posed as a law firm.
They would threaten those who, at one time, inquired about a payday loan online, that their drivers' licenses would be revokes and they would face arrest and imprisonment if they did not pay up.
The court recently ordered those assets frozen, in case they could be used to compensate the consumers whose money was taken.
After checking the Better Business Bureau rating, Williams, Scott, and Associates, LLC. has an "F" rating, with 57 complaints. That business is not BBB accredited.
