Two people are dead after a Friday morning crash in DeKalb County.
A tractor-trailer truck and a minivan collided on I-285 north just before Memorial Drive.
DeKalb County police said two people were killed and two others are seriously injured.
Preliminary investigation at the scene determined that a 2007 Volvo tractor with double trailers experienced a breakdown which brought the truck to a stop in the #3 lane. Shortly thereafter, a 2007 Honda Odyssey minivan occupied by a family of four struck the rear of the stopped truck.
The 43-year-old driver of the minivan was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and is expected to survive. Passenger Sri Susanto, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene. One son, Hubert Lim, 10, was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston but died upon arrival.
A 13-year-old son was also taken to Egleston and is expected to survive.
The family lived in Johns Creek.
The interstate was shut down for several hours while police investigated.
