ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Nine people were forced from their home early Saturday morning after a fire destroyed their house in unincorporated Lawrenceville.

The blaze broke out at the home on the 3400 block of Oak Drive just after 1 a.m.

When crews arrived, they found the fire at the two-story home was well involved. Three cars parked in the driveway were also engulfed in flames.

At first, firefighters had to fight the fire from outside because of the intense conditions. Part of the home also collapsed.

It took crews an hour to get the fire under control.

The home was a complete loss. Investigators do not yet know the exact cause, but it appears the fire started in the garage.

The four adults at the home at the time said they heard a popping sound coming from the garage. All of them made it out safely. However, the family's pet dog is still missing.

In all, six adults and three children were displaced by the fire. The Red Cross is assisting them.
