1 injured in chemical incident at Dalton plant

Posted: Updated:
DALTON, GA (CBS46) -

One person was injured Monday in a chemical reaction at MFG Chemical at a plant on Kimberly Park Drive.

Dalton Police Public Relations Specialist Bruce Frazier first told CBS46 that there was an explosion at the plant.

Frazier sent out a second email saying it was not an explosion but a chemical reaction accident.

The incident is over. The chemical is not poisonous, but is an irritant.

One person on the scene had to be decontaminated and was taken to the burn center in Augusta after apparently inhaling the chemical. There's no word on his condition.

A chemical can be smelled on Highway 41 nearby, but the highway is open.
