UPDATE: All lanes open after Wednesday AM crash on HWY 11E in Piney Flats

Posted: Updated:

After working throughout the day to replace power poles and utility lines along Highway 11 E, full service to nearby homes is restored and all lanes of the thoroughfare through Piney Flats are open.

The outside lanes in both directions of travel reopened on Highway 11E in Sullivan County after an accident shutdown all the lanes and knocked out power to several residents.

The accident happened early Wednesday morning around 6:00 a.m. near Industrial Park Road in Piney Flats.

A car traveling towards Johnson City crossed all lanes of traffic and hit a power pole. Moments later, a truck traveling in the same direction clipped the down line triggering a chain reaction that brought down seven power poles -- resulting in a power outage affecting hundreds of Piney Flats residents.

One person was taken to the hospital but there is no report on a condition at this time.

Johnson City Power Board restored power to the area.
