Georgia police reopen OD case involving Google exec's prostitute

Milton police in Fulton County are going to take another look into an accidental overdose death. In September, Dean Riopelle died of an overdose. His girlfriend, Alix Tichelman, was with him at the time.

"She called 911 and the statements we got when we arrived is that she was in the shower and heard a large crash. She came out and found him lying on the floor unresponsive, and that's when she called 911," said Capt. Shawn McCarty of the Milton Police Department.

CBS46's Vince Sims learned from police, just two months after Riopelle's death, Tichelman is allegedly seen on surveillance video on a yacht giving Google executive Forrest Hayes a deadly dose of heroin. Santa Cruz, CA, police say she actually stepped over his body to finish a glass of wine and close curtains before leaving him there to die.

California detectives called Milton police once they saw her previous charges and connection to a death investigation in Georgia. Now Milton police will take another look.

At that time his death was ruled as an accidental overdose. But now Milton police are going to re-examine their investigation.

"There are too many similarities for us not to look. So we obviously want to go back and look and make sure everything was handled correctly," McCarty said.
