ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Briggs & Stratton Corporation will close its facility in McDonough by the spring of 2015.

The closure will affect approximately 475 employees. The company said it would provide assistance programs, continued benefits and outplacement services to employees affected.

The McDonough facility manufactures pressure washers, snow throwers, zero-turn mowers and smaller lawn and garden tractors.

According to a press release on its website, Briggs & Stratton will consolidate production into two out-of-state facilities. Production of pressure washers, snow throwers and lawn tractors will move to the Wauwatosa, WI, location. The Munnsville, NY, facility will receive production of zero-turn lawnmowers.

The company expects to have production completed in McDonough and transitioned to the other facilities by the end of the first quarter of 2015.

Briggs & Stratton is headquartered in Milwaukee, WI. It is the world's largest producer of gasoline engines for outdoor power equipment according to the company's website.
