ATLANTA (CBS46) -

The Mercer Bears' win in the NCAA tournament could help them win an ESPY Award.

The team from the university in Macon were underdogs against No. 3 seed Duke in the opening round game of March Madness. The Bears went on to beat Duke 78-71, sending the Blue Devils back home to North Carolina.

Mercer is one of three candidates up for ESPN's "Best Upset" award. The other two nominees are the University of Connecticut winning the NCAA men's basketball title and Chris Weidman defeating Anderson Silva to take home the UFC middleweight championship.

Voting is open until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16. You may cast your vote here: http://espn.go.com/espys/2014/.
