New hospital to bring hundreds of jobs to Hall County

Posted: Updated:

Construction is well underway at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton. Building this hospital costs about $188.4 million.

"We have about 40 million dollars of those 100 million dollars [which is part of the total cost] being reinvested into the Hall county and the surrounding county area using subcontractors," Turner pre-construction manager Ben Sousa said. "Roughly 60 local subcontractors and vendors are being utilized on the project," he added.

The health system boasts the new hospital will bring quality health care to the area. To provide all those services and much more the hospital will bring more than 500 jobs to the area. CBS 46 reporter Vince Sims learned pay for those positions will be competitive with other hospitals in the metro area.

"We will have senior nurses, nurse leaders, many nursing positions," human resources manager Robin Daniel said. She added, "We'll also have all the support positions you can imagine for a facility this size."

The potential for growth doesn't end when the doors open. The project is being built with plans for future growth.

"We have a three-story patient tower that is in the back with future expansion capabilities to go up to 11 stories," Sousa said.

"Then we have a diagnostics and testing building directly adjacent to the bed tower that is planned to go up one more story and can also do future expansions outward," he added.

The hospital is slated to open May 2015. CBS 46 News is told work is ahead of schedule and it may open a couple of months earlier.
