Gun rights advocates gather at Pearson Metropark

OREGON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Supporters of the second amendment and firearms rights held a picnic today at Pearson Metropark and they were easy to spot.

Most of them were openly carrying firearms.

The picnic was sponsored by the group, Ohio Carry.

Members of the group say this is a celebration of freedom.

"Guns don't make people bad. The gun is just an item. The people is what's bad. A criminal doesn't care about the law. The criminal will commit a crime regardless," said Robert Tasker, with Ohio Carry.

A spokesman for the Metroparks says state law was followed and open carry weapons are allowed in the parks.
