Streetcar etiquette for downtown drivers

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Just like cyclists should be aware, drivers will also have to get used to a few changes.

It is safe to drive on the streetcar tracks, but do not stop on the green bike boxes at intersections, say streetcar officials.

According to Sun Link those green bike boxes need to be clear for those on bicycles to use.  If an intersection has a green bike box, drivers will not be allowed to make a right turn on read.

Another reminder for downtown drivers, do not pass a streetcar at a streetcar stop and drivers should always be alert for streetcar riders and bicyclists as they are getting off the streetcar.

A major reminder for drivers is to parallel park properly, park as close to the curb as possible.  Also be aware when exiting the vehicle on the street side, look out for other cars, bikes and even streetcars.
