Suspect in attempted robbery leaves store empty handed

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Pima County Sheriff's Department, Rincon District is asking for the public's help in identifying and locating a suspect in an attempted robbery of a Walgreens on the far east side of Tucson.  

According to a PCSD release deputies received a call on July 20, about a suspicious person at the Walgreens on east Colossal Cave Road. The suspect entered the store and asked an employee for a pack of cigarettes.  As the clerk rang up the cigarettes, the suspect told her he had left his wallet in his car, according to a PCSD release, it was at this point the suspect allegedly threatened the clerk and told her to empty the cash register drawer.  

The suspect abruptly leaves the store without any cash or store items, according to PCSD officials, and gets into a car.  No weapon was implied or used during the course of the incident, said the release.  The store clerk was not injured. 

The suspect is described as a Caucasian or light skinned Hispanic man in his 20s with a heavy build, approximately 5'11" tall.  He was last seen wearing tan cargo shorts, a red polo-style shirt and square-shaped glasses.  

The vehicle he got into is described as a gold colored SUV, possibly a 2007 - 2012 Ford Escape or other similar vehicle like a Mazda Tribute or Mercury Mariner.  

Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
