Amazon is being asked to refund customers for unauthorized charges. And those consumers are parents whose children made in-app purchases that gave them credit for games. In turn, Amazon made millions in profit by allowing this to continue.
So the Federal Trade Commission is stepping in and suing the online retail giant. The FTC says parents found charges on their credit card accounts, ranging from $.99 to $99.
If this sounds familiar, it is. Apple was hit with the same charge at the beginning of this year.
Not only is the FTC asking Amazon to refund parents, they are also asking billing payments to be halted until given consent. So far, the fine or possible settlement figure has not yet been released.
